Feature Fashion :: Natasha the Label

I had my first experience of NATASHA when I bought a stunning party frock from the then popular Ultra Suite Boutique that was a must-stop-store for many Brisbane fashionistas. I remember donning this stunner at the races back in 2004 and received many compliments. I was also lucky enough to attend the Ultra Suite evening where they launched Natasha’s new season range, back in 2004 I believe, and met the designer herself. I still remember her being down to earth, passionate and surrounded by a fantastic team of talented beauties.

Flash forward to 2015 and NATASHA is still a force in the Australian and international fashion market. Her stunning collections are playful and vintage inspired, with gorgeous accessories, and a free spirited, bohemian flavour, much like the creator herself, Natasha Welsh. There is not one person I can think of in my immediate circle who did not have a pair of NATASHA beaded sandles, still to this day worn loud and proud.

It can be said that the immediate success of Natasha’s footwear, bags and scarves, were closely followed by a capsule collection of sexy, hand-crafted party dresses inspired by Natasha’s South American travels – a collection that firmly established Natasha amongst leading Australian and international boutique brands. Today, Natasha’s collections include both clothing and accessories, and are stocked in leading boutiques and department stores across Australia and internationally.

Natasha splits her time between Sydney and Bali, Indonesia, where she works closely with her local team to design each collection. It can be said that Bali’s natural beauty, along with the rich culture and creative pulse amongst the Balinese people have become an inspiration for Natasha’s collections, evident in her free-spirited designs. Each piece has its own story to tell – both divine and captivating!

The Spring/Summer 2014/15 range, seen below, is a collection that is a feminine play on the whimsical style of the 60s (think style icon Jane Birkin). The pieces are playful, colourful and provide you with the perfect summer-essentials holiday wardrobe. Crisp white laces, Mediterranean blues and white stripes are stand out features, along with delicate hand detailed vintage embroidered pieces. Timeless and eclectic, these stunning garments and accessories will not be around for long.
